Pilots

All pilots are encouraged to use their skills as a Civil Air Patrol pilot.

In order to do that, your pilot certificate, current medical, and current flight review must be documented in the Operations Qualifications section of e-Services.

If you have a high performance endorsement or instructor certificate, those should be documented in the system as well.

Documenting these items requires a two-step process:

• Uploading Supporting Documentation

• Submit Qualifications for Approval

Once your qualifications have been submitted and approved and you have completed Education and Training Level 1: Onboarding and Cadet Protection Training, there are two remaining steps to complete in order to exercise your pilot skills within Civil Air Patrol:

• Pilot Onboarding Program

• Take a Check Ride

For more information on new pilot onboarding, see your unit's Operations Officer.

Uploading Supporting Documentation

Once logged into e-Services, click on the menu button  in the top left corner of your screen to open the menu.

Since the menu contans a lot of options, the easiest way to find something is to use the search bar.
To find the Operations Qualifications selection, type Operations in the search bar.

Selecting Operations Qualifications from the Operations menu takes you to the Ops Quals Home Page.

Click/Tap  to open the menu.

Scroll down to the Pilot Menu, and select FAA/TSA Requirements.

Enter your CAPID in the space provided.

This will take you to the FAA Certificates page where you will later submit information to be validated.

On the FAA Certificates page, click/tap View/Upload Document to display the document popup.

Use this popup to upload and later view documents related to your FAA qualifications, including:

• Pilot Certificate
• Current Medical
• Current Flight Review or Wings Certificate
• High Performance Endorsement
• Flight Instructor Certificate
• Copy of Logbook Showing 175, 200, and/or 300 PIC Hours

Submit Qualifications for Approval

Follow the steps described in Uploading Supporting Documentation to navigate to the FAA Certificates page:

Use the check boxes and other entry controls to submit information from your pilot certificate, medical, flight review, and any other FAA related items for which supporting documentation was uploaded.

Pilot Onboarding Program

This is where you will work with one of our instructor pilots to ensure you are ready for taking a check ride.

Pilots without a current high performance endorsement must complete high performance training and receive a logbook endorsement from one of our instructor pilots.

There is also special training for those who need to transition to flying aircraft equipped with Garmin's G1000 system.

Take a Check Ride

Our annual check ride is much like the flight review with which you are familiar, but it also includes information and skill checks that are specific to Civil Air Patrol.

Pilots must receive an initial check ride in each of the types of aircraft they wish to fly. These include Cessna 172 and 182, and the Gippsland Air Van (GA8).

Some Civil Air Patrol aircraft are equipped with Garmin's G1000 system.

Pilots are required to either show they are well experienced with G1000 or work with an instructor pilot in the G1000 transition training.
